Interactive installation of soundscapes

This work was shown at Nextex and was distributed over two exhibition rooms equipped with counselling counters, the previous owner (Italian Consulate) of the building. On one side of the switch, visitors could select and play soundscapes – but they could not actually hear the selected soundscapes. In the exhibition hall, on the other hand, visitors were at the mercy of the selected soundscapes and had to listen.
On the one hand, this work points to the power relationship between the two sides of the switch, and on the other hand, the visitors were led on an acoustic journey to South America, although they remained in Switzerland. Every year people travel to Switzerland and wait in front of a counter for their visa, bringing with them their own stories and backgrounds. Every year, dozens of Swiss people travel abroad and sometimes wait for a visa.
